Wildlife Act – Motor Vehicle Closed Area

 In Columbia Ridge News, Uncategorized

The Conservation Officer Service has received reports regarding the use of ATV’s, motorcycles and other motor vehicles operating within the Dutch Creek / Findlay Flats Motor Vehicle Closed Area. The Wildlife Act states a person commits an offence if he or she uses or operates a motor vehicle within a closed area and is liable to a Penalty of $ 230.00. Also under the Forest and Range Practices Act any unauthorized activity resulting in prescribed damage to the environment by a motor vehicle may result in a penalty of $ 575.00.

The officer also has the discretion of seizing the motor vehicle. Presently it appears that some violators may reside within the Columere Park or Columbia Ridge Estates area. Attached is a map of the Motor Vehicle closed area. Anyone with information regarding violators or to report a violation is asked to report the incident to the Conservation Officer Service 24/7 reporting line at 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP – Report all Poachers and Polluters). Please protect this area from motor vehicle damage and ride elsewhere. Thank you from the Conservation Officer Service.
