Columbia Ridge News

AGM:

Our virtual 2021 AGM will be tentatively held in May. The AGM package will be emailed to our membership prior to the AGM.

Although our AGM has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic, your Board of Directors continue to work on behalf of residents dealing with issues, working on projects, and managing community affairs.

Since our last AGM in 2019, where the special resolution to ban short-term rentals was passed, our amended bylaws have been filed with BC Societies.

ANNUAL COMMUNITY DUES:

You should receive your 2021 invoice by the end of April. Contact  treasurer@columbiaridge.ca if there has been any change to your email address.

COMMUNITY EVENTS:

In 2019 we held our annual Summer Sizzler and Christmas Social. We hope that we can resume these community events in 2021.

FORESHORE:

You may have noticed the new storage shed down at the beach for storing community assets such as mooring balls and maintenance equipment.

Last spring dock repairs were made and several mooring chains and buckets were replaced.

XC-SKIING:

A XC-ski tracker has been purchased for the lake. We look forward to putting it to use next winter.

COVID RESPONSE:

Hand Sanitizer was placed at our common areas. We also removed common touch points by stacking and securing the chairs and roping off playground equipment. We continue to stay abreast of pandemic guidelines.

FIRESMART:

The Fire Smart cleanup event is tentatively scheduled for May 2021. Watch for Fire Smart blog on our website.

CROWN LAND TRAILS:

Please respect our crown lands by not venturing off established trails when hiking or biking.

MOORING COORDINATOR:

Ian Adair has stepped down after nine years and countless hours managing mooring requests. We appreciate his hard work over the years. We are in the process of recruiting a new mooring coordinator.

BUILDING COMMITTEE:

Thank you to Gordy Cannady for his many years of dedication to upholding our community and building standards. Building related inquires should be sent to  info@columbiaridge.ca

CPR CROSSING AGREEMENT:

CRCA applied for another crossing at the "south beach" but this was denied by CPR. Residents are reminded to observe the no trespassing sign and to only use our approved crossing at our beach and dock area.

GOVERNANCE:

Your Board of Directors are completing our community rules which will be presented at the AGM. We are also updating our mooring policies, and developing a privacy policy and community code of conduct.

LOGGING CONCERNS:

It has come to our attention that two privately owned parcels of land across the highway from our community will be logged. The spring that supplies our drinking water is located on this land and we are concerned that the spring could be damaged. Hardie Creek also flows through this land and is significant to the health of Columbia Lake. We will provide an update soon.

WELCOME:

We welcome our new residents and say farewell to our neighbours who have moved away or in the process of moving away. We wish you well and hope you stay in touch!
