The backcountry closure that went into effect today at 1pm originally included all water surfaces (as the water is Crown Land) so that meant no boats or any access. Very confusing for everyone – and just when we thought we were getting it figured out, the Province amended backcountry area restriction and is now permitting people to use / access area lakes/water provided the access and egress to water is via private land, municipal land, highway (including rights of way) or the following BC front country parks (as above) boat launching facilities:
· Dry Gulch · James Chabot · Premier Lake · Wasa · Jim Smith · Kikomun Creek · Mount Fernie · Moyie Lake · Norbury Lake · Yahk · Columbia Lake · Koocanusa - Yakakaklamki Boat Launch
This has been confirmed by the Ministry. They will have staff available Sunday from 8am to 4:30pm to answer questions about this and the backcountry closure at 250-426-1766.
